Entry To Practice Competencies
Entry to Practice Competencies are the education, knowledge, skills, and abilities expected of every entry-level licensed practical nurse in Nova Scotia. LPNs use these competencies to provide nursing care in a variety of settings, and to clients of all age groups. The competencies defined in the LPN Competency Profile may be attained in different ways: through formal education (the practical nursing program), through clinical experience, or through on-the-job mentorship.
Every nurse is accountable to maintain and increase their practice capacity beyond the entry level over their lifetime of their career.
The Entry to Practice Competencies document was approved by, and adopted for use by the CLPNNS Board of Directors on September 25, 2o13.
