Orientation to the Canadian Health Care System
All Internationally Educated Nurses (IENs) who obtain licensure with an active practicing license must complete the Orientation to the Canadian Health Care System course/workshop within the first twelve months of practicing in Nova Scotia. Those who have been approved for a temporary license will have to complete the course within one year from the date of issue of the temporary license.
You are required to take the “Orientation to the Canadian Health Care System for Internationally Educated Health Care Professionals” within 12 months of licensing. Please contact Sheila Paris at 1-902-473-2175 for further information. Once you have completed this course, please provide CLPNNS with a copy of the record of completion.
Note: Once deemed eligible, applicants who have not practiced in the past five years may, in addition to other requirements, be required to complete a LPN Re-Entry program to demonstrate currency in practice.
