Have something you would like CLPNNS to consider at our 2019 Annual General Meeting (AGM)? College members are encouraged to submit resolutions to be voted upon at the AGM. A resolution is a formal statement or expression of an opinion presented to voting delegates at the AGM. Resolutions that are supported and passed by a majority of the voting delegates on the day of the AGM are forwarded to the CLPNNS Board for further action.
While resolutions can relate to a number of issues (e.g., the scope of practice, the continuing competence program), it is important to remember that the intent of all resolutions must fall within the parameters of the College’s regulatory mandate.
Resolutions received by March 25, 2019 will be posted on the College’s website and/or published in the College Reporter. Resolutions will be accepted at the AGM (given that they meet specific criteria); however, having them published in advance will allow others to think about them prior to the meeting. Resolutions passed at an AGM are non-binding; to be considered by the College’s Board of Directors at a subsequent meeting.
As we shared in our February newsletter, we are preparing for the possibility that government will introduce the legislation for one nursing regulator this Spring. This could lead to proclamation of the new organization as early as June 2019. This may impact the ability of the existing CLPNNS Board to take action on any resolutions passed at the AGM.
To submit an AGM resolution, please complete our online form below by Monday, March 25, 2019.
